Nightfall in the Discworld

So here it is, colored, in memory of Terry Pratchett.  Night has fallen on the Discworld with the death of the late great Sir Terry Pratchett, and the denizens of the Discworld are having a candlelight vigil for their creator. Their creator whose work served as medicine when I'm sick or injured; I read my first Terry Pratchett book, The Last Hero, after getting my hand slit open on broken glass and bleeding out. Although it was among the worst pain I have ever felt, I don't remember the pain. I just remember going on a hilarious and quirky adventure. A source of entertainment she I'm doing housework or sewing (I like to listen to the audiobooks), a bedtime story, laughs to share with other nerd friends, the highlight of many an otherwise dark day, and inspiration to write my own deconstructive parodies. And curtains have fallen on his wonderful, whimsical Discworld. Tea light candles are all they've got when it goes dark in the the Discworld, but it's a sacred light.

 I included everyone I possibly could-(r-L)The Luggage, Nanny Ogg, Granny Weatherwax, Magrat, Twoflower, Rincewind, Adora Belle, Cohen (who looks half-baked and like he's seen better days) Moist, Susan, Death himself*, The Librarian, Death of Rats, Tiffany, Vetinari, a Nac Mac Feegle, Vimes, Colon, Angua, Carrot, Cheery, Nobby, and Detritus. Yes, some of them are OOC but the point of this is to show them mourning their creator. I wanted to include EVERYONE in the DW, but that's why I drew the background, even though it's shitty. it's supposed to be a random crowd to include everybody without having to actually draw them. If I had to draw anyone else I would never get anything else done and my brain had gone numb around the time I colored Angua. Even so, attempted to make it look like it was night. As I said, I did it almost entirely without reference and some of the characters look off, I've never taken this long to complete a drawing,  I guess the universe likes to play puns (punes?) on me, because here they are holdings a vigil and I held a vigil to draw this. Pterry will be missed, but to quote Abdul Ibn Alhazred, "That which is not dead may eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die" and his world, books, and characters are still here, they're here to stay in our minds, hearts, pages, sound bytes, and memories, and maybe I could take a liquid nitrogen bucket challenge to support Alzheimers research, (I had originally started working on a DW fanart of a liquid nitrogen bucket challenge, but after the sad news I drew this) freeze myself in the stuff, then wake up, find strange aeons, come back to this era, and kill death himself with my own bare hands so he'll stop taking my favorite creators before their time. I don't know if you can see it, but I didn't have the room to do the full insignia on the City Watch badges, but I drew an ankh in each of the badges. For those of you who don't know, the ankh was a symbol of life in ancient Egypt, and in a way we are continuing life. Although nightfall may have quietly crept into the Discworld and ended them all, as long as Terry Pratchett has fans, and fans who are inspired by him to be writers and artists to make their own creations, the Discworld will never be the Darkworld.

*I know some people may have qualms about putting Death in the vigil, as Mark Twain once said, one should live their life so that even the undertaker will be sorry, and if one lived their life that even Death himself attends the vigil, that was an accomplished life.
